Indiana Golf

The Horseshoe Casino Classic was held at the Lost Marsh Golf Club in Hammond, Indiana in 2009.  This Futures Tour event showcased some of the best young lady golf professionals in the country fighting to elevate their games.  This is truly a community event as it is held on a municipal course and is sponsored by the city of Hammond.  The new clubhouse offers great views of the golf course and also of nearby Chicago.

Carmel, Indiana and Crooked Stick Golf Club hosted the USGA’s U.S. Senior Open in 2009. Located just North of Indianapolis, this course was a true test for the senior golfers as it was set up as the longest Senior Open layout in history at 7244/7316 yards and definitely favored the long hitters. 2008’s Open at the Broadmore in Colorado Springs previously had been the longest course layout at 7254 yards.

The highly awarded golf course of Belterra, lies in the Switzerland area of southern Indiana. Tom Fazio designed a parkland style layout, winding in the hills and valley of the Ohio River. A large practice facility with short game bunker and putting greens as well as a picturesque driving range, prepares you for the 7000 yard golfing experience. Tee boxes are generous to make this an enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels. GPS Uplink provides accurate distances tee to green. Fairways are fairly wide, but, with over 2200 trees and sandboxes to snare those wayward tee shots. Rolling hills and water hazards abound. The constant elevation changes require strategic concentration on your landing area. Water comes into play on 12 of the 18 holes. The par 5, 18th signature hole is a great example. The large fairway invites a good rip from the tee box. Success there entices a direct second shot to the green. A lake lining the right side of the fairway and greenside along with guarding bunkers make for a fun finishing hole, whatever the final score. The clubhouse has all the amenities with a friendly staff and comfy locker rooms. The Out of Bounds Bar and Grill lounge serves food and drinks for a satisfying 19th hole.
